Metáforas, Poder e Esporte: aproximações relacionais no cinema

Resumo

Esse estudo discute transversalizações entre esporte, política e poder, presentes no filme Invictus (2009), que aborda a relação entre o rugby e o presidente da África do Sul, Nelson Mandela. No estudo exploratório percebeu-se que esse esporte foi empregado como instrumento colaborador no processo de combate ao apartheid no país africano, contribuindo para a manutenção das novas relações de poder instauradas a partir da década de 90 do século XX. Na análise, relacionou-se as metáforas subjetivas (GOATLY, 1997) nas falas do personagem de Nelson Mandela, contextualizando-as com o enredo da trama. Concluiu-se que o rugby, enquanto esporte, foi empregado como fator agregador entre as pessoas, como um instrumento de manutenção hegemônica do poder político, além de agir como elemento formador de identidades nacionais e mecanismo de mobilização das massas naquele país.

Metaphor, Power and Sports: relational approaches in cinema

Abstract

This study discusses mainstreamings between sport, politics and power, in the film Invictus (2009), focusing on the relationship between the rugby and the president of South Africa, Nelson Mandela. In the exploratory study was realized that this sport was employed as a contributor element in the process of fight against Apartheid in the African country, contributing to the maintenance of the new power relations brought from the 90s of XX century. The analysis was related to the subjective metaphors (GOATLY, 1997) in the statements of the character of Nelson Mandela, contextualizing them with the plot of the story. It was concluded that rugby as sport, was employed as an aggregating factor among people, as a hegemonic maintenance instrument of political power, in addition to acting as a formative element of national identity and mobilization mechanism of the masses there.
